The issues facing our state and the nation are complex and require immediate actions. Below you will find my positions on some of the most important. If you have issues or concerns not on this list, please feel free to contact me or send me an email and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
National Security Since 9/11/2001, I understand the tremendous threat to our future posed by terrorism and the spread of radical and violent Islamism. Now, as much as at any time in our history, we need to be vigilant and strong. My platform includes:
Education: The U.S. Department of Education has developed programs and regulations that have met or exceed the goals set forth without duly interfering with States’ rights to govern themselves. Education is one the largest expenditure for State Budget. Federal Funding should maintain it current level and increase appropriately to economy.
Trade Fair Trade Policies: encourages the development of overseas markets, while protecting our industry and workers from unfair competition from unions such a EU or Russian Trade Union and large manufacturing countries such as China, Korea or Japan. The Department of Commerce should not be dissolve. However, better processes and best federal practice be developed in developing policies and agreements to benefit American and support American jobs.
The Top Four Areas of Expenditures: These expenditures have a direct correlation with Rising Health Care Cost. The Department of Defense has a large population of retired veterans. There is the Department of Health and Human Service who major tenet is health care. There is also Social Security. Even the Department of Treasury has to indirectly pay interest on those retirement accounts that contain U.S. back securities. In addition, the Department of Veteran Affairs will see increase funding to support and aid our military veterans. Therefore, the process of developing sound business oriented health care must consider the stages of the journey of life while making if affordable for many Americans. In order to develop sound economic health care, we have to look at health care from many perspectives such as the returning veterans, new families, children, adults, and retirees. Many American see health care as only for expecting mothers, the new born and the elderly.
- Maintain a balanced military to keep us safe while protecting our economic growth.
- Make sure the men and women serving us in uniform have the equipment and training that meet our global commitments.
- Streamline government process and fair acquisition process to obtain new weapons and intelligence technology.

Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs: After every war, there is going to be a large amount of downsizing. I have personally experienced this in the 1990s and again in 2000. However, the choice we face is whether to do it all or once or do a slow step down processes. The step down process actually prolongs the process of unemployment for many Americans as we see in the American Reinvestment Act. During the Clinton Era, the largest draw down of forces occurred. During that time, many veterans faced a lack of services. However, we saw a balance budget. Therefore, an equilibrium state must be obtained in providing service while cutting the budget. As I reflect on those times, they were challenges which I had to endure or overcome. Like many American, I did not win all the challenges of life (i.e. closure of business, unemployment, and etc…).
Department of Energy: The Department of Energy is a funny agency. It contains some of the brightest scientist, engineers and personnel in the United States. They also have some of the highest clearances when dealing with Nuclear Energy. However, there appears too much emphasis on long term solution while ignoring the short term to medium needs of America. In many cases, providing a lack of oversight and regulation. For instance, solar power initiatives have been around the 1970’s. Although, huge gains have been made in this technology area, it has caused a diversionary tactics of the overall need for oversight in the crude oil management. For instance, in the 1990, I procured some mineral oil mineral rights to some dysfunctional oil well from the Los Angeles Oil Basin. My general intention was to make a fortune to sell mineral bottle water to the public. However, with the United Nations Food for Oil program in mid 1990’s, it provided an opportunity to transform these wells into storage/processing/natural gas sites. The Department of Energy infrastructure, policies, regulation and security processes were at a stage of not provide the necessary oversight and management (check out FOIA: http://www.oha.doe.gov/cases/foia/tfa0217.pdf). The original request was for chemical composition in crude oil obtain to run these fields in which oversight was provided by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources which Fienstein was a senior member of. This has lead to wide scale corruption and higher gas prices. For instance, the confusion of low grade oil with high grade oil, mixing of shipping manifests, manipulation of stocks and that just to name a few. Ten years later, this has led to systemic problems in our California economy such as high gasoline prices which leads to increase in other areas. Today, many Americans depend on commuting great distances to maintain adequate or below adequate employment. Therefore, something must be done now.
The Department of Energy is one agency that needs to merge with another agency or dissolved completely. Already some of the major programs have been absorbed or duplicated into by Department of Defense and/or other agencies.
