GENERAL SPEECH
I am running for United State Senator for the State of California. I am above 30 years old in accordance to the Constitution of the United States and have lived in the state for over 1 year. In fact, I am 44 years old and received a bachelor degree in Astronomy from San Diego State in 1989.
The state of California is portrayed to world as a young vibrant state. Unlike, Florida, we are not just a warm retirement state; we are a dynamic state that stretches almost entire west coast of the United States.
During the 2011 State of Union Address, the honorable, Mr. President, Barrack Obama, uses the term "an America built to last" which has a connotation that his policies are new and innovated. However, if we go back to the basic, we see that our Constitution was really built to last. Therefore, instead of looking for new innovation, we need to go back to the basic and built upon it. Mr. Obama may lead you to believe that some of his bailouts are not bailouts. For instance, AIG or Solyndra don't fit the definition of a bailout but received taxpayer money non the less. Is this the innovation we want?
Then why do we have United States Senators who have passed the age mandatory retirement age of Social Security System. The average age for California is 33.333 years old or 1/3 of a century. Obviously, we place too much pressure on our senior citizens or we do not plan to train our new young politicians well. The best way to have a good Senator is to have “On the Job Training.” In addition, with the vast experience of at least having a senior senator on capitol hill, a junior senator can be effectively mentored and developed to meet the needs, desire and hopes of California.
After Desert Shield/Storm, I took the time to get an advance degree. I also have work experience and have seen the effects of Base Closures on the West Coast. It is not pleasant. I assure my fellow California that the “after” of Iraq Freedom and the sub sequential economy are not the same, but are directly opposites. During the Clinton era, the honorable president was able to energize Congress to pass legislation which result in a Surplus. However, during Obama administration, we have witnesses the largest deficit in addition to the largest acceleration of expenditures in United States History. Mr Obama minimizes this statement by stating that he "inherited economy from the previous administration." This fully places the blame on the president. However, It is not all Obama fault.
When the incumbent Senator was elected initially in 1992, as a freshman or junior Senator, Feinstein failed to observe “successful history.” Therefore, today, she along with other members of Congress passed legislations that prevent a desirable outcome, a balance budget in 2012. This is not what the majority of the American people want; not having answers nor solutions to the growing federal deficit. In additionally, gasoline prices over the last two decades have been double which is above the national average. For instance, in the early 1990's, gasoline prices on the east coast was under a $1.00. California gas prices were almost double that. Senator Feinstein never improved nor introduce legislation to improve our storage capacity for crude oil and even failed to fully investigate the UN FOOD FOR OIL SCANDAL in late 1990's. The Senator also never realize the importance on how dependent we are on crude oil. In other states I have visited, they are developing crude oil/bio fuel production sites/wells. We could develop similar wells in CA instead of being dependent on another external financial conglomerate in another state or even a country. It appears she is the only one benefiting from this by remaining in office.
Many candidates acknowledge that entitlements benefits are out of control and present plans to solve this. However, when politicians and bureaucratic workers use this term, "entitlements", it means involving Social Security. Social Security should not be tampered with. Many of their health reforms calls for dipping into social security off budget fund. I am firmly against any health care plan that either implies or takes out of social security. Social security pays for other expenses other than healthcare. "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" is just plain wrong.
Overall, in the last two decades, gas prices have historically been higher than the national average under our present U.S. Senators. Capitalism is you actually make more money by producing more product and sell at affordable per unit price (FORD MODEL). Communism and dictatorships have shortages and high prices such as gasoline. "Where have all those profits in gasoline gone since 1991?" To other states, other countries or to our enemies... California does not need career politicians who are indifferent to the needs of Californians. Now, we are faced with reserving crude oil for only the military and air travel to maintain our security and presence in the world. This leads to a class based society of elites. This is not the future I envisioned for the United States.
In Congress, education and training is a lifelong process of learning; By which the knowledge, “the process of passing successful legislation and failed legislation” is passed from senior to junior, from the incumbent to freshman, and etc... Therefore, to ensure the process returns back to it normal integrity and validity, Senator Feinstein should not be re-elected. She failed to mentor our upcoming junior leaders on what works. Now, we must hope, they will not develop, support, pass and display undesirable legislated patterns. One such pattern is that many Senators who do not have completed one term are moving into larger positions. This causes stress in any type of pension plan when individuals do not qualify for pensions. It does not allow adequate time for the pension system to react to someone retiring early. It cause lower payment, delayed payouts, poor service and general discontent among the investor in the plan. Under title 5, there is a provision only for the president. Title 32 handles the reserves and the governors of US States. Senator Feinstein went twenty years. Therefore, if California wants change they must elect someone who eligible for a normal twenty year pension since he or she is already qualified. Don't elect another dynasty. In addition, having advance degrees helps in lowering the general infrastructure cost for the office of Senator. I have seen many candidates change their personal history and qualification to just get elected and then do a bad job but in the long run they still don't get a pension. The people who work and live in DC are like you and me. They know an "anchor" and can stop the lies after the election.
Finally, Senator Feinstein has dedicated her life to the state of California and truly desiring a rest by stepping aside and allowing democracy to prosper. The infrastructure to support Senator Feinstein needs to be shaken up and reduced logistically to affordable levels. For instance, Senator Strom Thurmond, a career politician of South Carolina, retired in Georgia. Californians need to wake up from the stupor of despair, hopelessness and indifference and act by voting for a republican candidate based on ability, background and potential versus image and the status quo.
My name is Rogelio Gloria. Vote me to the United States Senate 2012 for California.
